I like this quote...I like it so much, I think I am going to keep it near and dear to me this Holiday season.
Over the next 27 days I will be sharing a tip, picture, idea, or moment with all of you that I think is especially important in making your Wedding Day full of love in your heart, and in the air.
I hope everyone had a happy, healthy, hearty, and had to undo the pants kind of Thanksgiving...
...Cheers to a wonderful, magical, and whimsical Christmas season that is now upon us.
I won't lie, I started listening to Christmas music the day after Halloween...don't judge.
Here are some sneak peeks of details/ideas that will be happening in our home for an amazing Thanksgiving Feast with my beautiful family!
I hope everyone takes some time this Holiday season to remember what this Holiday is all about...I know I am thankful for each and everyone of you, following this blog :)
Thanksgiving is ALMOST here. Did you hear me? It is TWO days away!!
Honestly, did you hear me?! Are you remotely prepared?! Do you still have to go FIND a turkey like I do?! I mean...don't worry Mom, I have it covered...(ahhhh)
What I do have covered, is the decor! The event planner in me has been designing table top schemes in my head for the past few weeks and I cannot wait to put them into reality come Turkey Day!
What about YOU! What will you be detailing, styling, and designing your Turkey Day around? And do not say, 'uhh, what, you don't need to decorate for Thanksgiving'... Because yes, yes you do and you know you want to! You can add something as little as pumpkins or place cards, or a candle....or ten if you are me. Just try it, it won't bite and I guarantee it will spice up, warm up, and cheer up your guests...
....even if it is just a table for two :)
Hair, Hair, Hair!
Hair can make or break your pictures, your day, your mood, your stress level.
Wedding day hair is key, but it doesn't have to be a worrisome task, if you know how to prepare...and well wouldn't you know, I am here to help :)
I suggest, finding many different styles you are mildly interested in...check.
Take pictures of these styles with you to a trial appointment...check.
Have your hair stylist incorporate all of the styles, in one way or another, for you to get a feel for and see what will work...check.
Be realistic about what kind of hair you ALREADY have. If you have always dreamed of whimsical curls and waves, but know that your hair is pin straight and can't keep a curl to save it's life...then move on! Sadly, your hair will not magically transform into locks that have the power to do anything you want them to do, so just be honest with yourself and you can't go wrong.
Remember though, don't do any of the styles to a TEE, if you do, and you love it, it will be impossible to re-make on THE DAY, so don't fret, just have your stylist do a make shift version, so you get an idea of what you love and what you don't!
When I went into my trial appointment, I was dead set on keeping my hair down, and wavey, and natural looking...is that what I ended up with?
N to the O!
My stylist and I both realized I have THIN hair, there was no way that as much as my hair stays curly, that it would stay PRETTY throughout the long day. The thinness of my hair would have ended up looking stringy and a nasty mess, so we changed our vision and worked with what we loved.
The end result was perfect and gave the natural feel I had wanted all along, but it was pulled back, to the side, and a little more formal too, because afterall it is your WEDDING DAY :)
Below, I found some amazing 2011 hair trends that are coming our way, and I must admit, as picky as I am when it comes to hair, I love them ALL. I love the way natural touches are becoming bigger, as well as new spins on old classics looks. Enjoy!
For a quick Saturday blog post, I found some amazing table top inspirations that would capture a late Fall/early Winter Wedding perfectly.
Are you all familiar with curly willows? If not, let me pleasantly introduce you. I used curly willows as one of my two center pieces in my own Wedding. It is one decision I already know I will never regret! They are earthy, timeless, and you can do so much with them! Keep them simple in a tall glass vase, or drape small candle lanterns and flowers from them. Anyway you use them, they are going to be spectacular.
Below, I found some unique and romantic ways to use them, with Fall flowers, and glistening candles...what do you think?
Also shown, is a burnt orange bouquet that just SCREAMS, hey, it's still Fall! It is a gorgeous statement piece for a late Fall Bride!
Hope you enjoy these Sweet November finds :)
How clever! Look at this cute wall decor idea. An empty frame, with a wreath! I love! It is so easy, simple, and classy looking - and cozy for the winter :) Gobble Gobble! I would so be GOBBLING these up! How cute? If you want some that are even MORE delicious and just as cute, check out my dear friend Tammi's, Cupcakery! She is having a Thanksgiving Sale - $10 for a DOZEN Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes! And take it from a girl who has had the pleasure of eating one...or more, they are amazing!
www.polkadotcupcakery.com - Orders must be placed by next Tuesday for the deal! No words, except awesome. I want to see a baby wearing this Turkey hat! Speaks for itself - but great words to live by, thanks Charlie :) Ahh, the beach. This time last year, I was about to jet off to Hilton Head for a Thanksgiving on the beach - one I will always love to remember. This year, my big brother is coming to see US for Thanksgiving! First Thanksgiving in our NEW home! But I know, you must be asking, "that's sooo sad, you don't get to go to the beach?" ... Not so fast my friends! Thanksgiving in Ohio...Christmas at the Beach :)
I wanted all my lovely followers to know about an Annual Walk that is going on this coming Sunday, November 21st!
Beautiful little Celia has a terminal illness called Batten Disease. Batten Disease is an autosomal recessive disorder classified as a neurodegenerative disorder. This disease causes seizures and both dramatic physical and mental deterioration. There is no cure or way to halt the progress of Batten disease at this time. Last year, the MICU at OSUMC held a walk for Celia at Antrim Park and raised almost 800 dollars for the cause! We would like to make this an annual event in order to continue to raise awareness and research monies for this rare affliction. Please come show support for Celia and her family and for children and families suffering with this illness!
Cost: Minimum of 5 dollars a walker. Additional donations much appreciated. All money will go towards batten disease research. Please make checks out to Sara Zeller.
For more information on Batten Disease, visit the following link: http://www.bdsra.org/
View Celia's story - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqPRFXNXRG0
Location: Antrim Park 799 Greenridge Rd Columbus, OH
Time: Sunday, November 21 · 1:00pm - 5:00pm
I would so appreciate it if anyone came to walk with us - it is for a great cause, and a very precious little girl...thank you for reading this peeps :)
So... it's crazy, it's nuts, I can barely even wrap my little head around it, but Thanksgiving is ALMOST here! It is one teeny, tiny, seven day hop away...are you ready?!
I for one, am completely excited this year. Ryan and I will be HOSTING, you read that right, HOSTING Thanksgiving. Now before you start to imagine me stuffing a turkey...(I mean I don't even know what that means?!) ...let me share with you our Thanksgiving agenda! To our excitement my Brother, Mom, Dad, and one of Best Friends will be joining us at OUR humble abode :) Luckily, all of these key players know that Miss ME, is not a cook...I can bake (okay, like easy things from a package) and that in itself is enough for me :) So you might be asking, "then what the heck are you useful for?!" ...it's a legit, fair question - but check yourself, I am in charge of the decor sillies, decor!
I stick to what I am good at and I cannot wait to dazzle our guests with delicate, homemade, and thoughtful details :)
Below I found a few pictures that highlight what our Thanksgiving feast will be accompanied by - delightful details that you can do yourself :)
So let me ask you...silent followers, what is your given task this coming Thanksgiving? Do you dish up an amazing pie, a yummy side dish, or are you master of ceremonies? Please share your Thanksgiving traditions, we could all use extra inspiration :)
So I got to thinking, since 29 Peonies took the leap, and joined the facebook world, that we should take a minute, or heck the whole evening, to celebrate!
Why you ask? Why not?! I ask :)
Help 29 Peonies grow on facebook - who knows, you might be pleasantly rewarded!
In the meantime, I will reward you with an eye treat of sorts, a little bubbly!
I love using these mini champagne bottles for guest favors, I might love the burlap tie bags just as much too - we all know how organic and earthy I am :)
But one more little detail that I knew you all would love....
....using the champagne or wine corks for place card holders - unique, different, cute!
So here is a toast and cheers to all of you, and thank you so much for following :)
I thought I would touch upon table top inspiration...I recently helped a Bride of mine brainstorm about her color scheme and how to bring it to life properly on a table top!
So many different routes can be taken, but you really need to play with the colors and see what takes your eye. Many times, something sounds good in theory, but once that table linen and chair cover meet...ick! So just be playful and go to the fabric store, dig out swatches, and mix-match away! Sometimes a colored napkin can make all the difference in the world too...yes, that teeny tiny napkin!
Here I found some late Fall table tops that caught my eyes...
...I love the warm, cozy, romantic feel that most of these seem to give off - which one is your favorite and why? :)
And remember 29 Peonies' followers, two very exciting Wedding Wave features will be coming your way within the next few weeks!!
We also are tickled to announce that you can finally find us on facebook - yes, we joined!
You can catch our blog and daily updates on our brand spankin' new page - Cheers!
